MISSION STATEMENT
The Carcosa Foundation is a registered Non-Profit dedicated to building a community that has the tools and capability necessary to solve the hard problems of sustainability, to mitigate climate change and biodiversity loss, to repair and restore the planet's systems that are key to all life's abundance.

Carcosa is a fictional city in the Ambrose Bierce short story An Inhabitant of Carcosa (1886). In Bierce's story, the ancient and mysterious city is barely described, and is viewed only in hindsight after its destruction, by a fleeing citizen. The city was later used more extensively in Robert W. Chambers' book of horror stories published in 1895 entitled The King in Yellow.  In Chambers' stories, the city is similarly a mysterious, ancient, and possibly cursed place, the descriptions given make it clear that Carcosa is located on another planet, or possibly even in another universe.

The fable of Carcosa resonates with our times, as our planet’s ecosystems and biodiversity, evolved over millennia, start to rapidly break down to the brink of collapse, on our watch. Earth can and will survive the worst we can muster, extinction events reset the clock of deep time back an hour or two, nothing more, it is our species’ continued existence in a thriving environment that is urgently in question. It is our ability to execute long overdue maintenance on the life support systems we and every creature under the sun depend on, using emerging technologies we so cleverly innovate, to restore and maintain life’s balance, which will decide our fate. Let us unite behind this common goal for humanity, so that future generations can enjoy and wonder at this incredible journey we experience on Spaceship Earth.

Superforest.

Superforest is a forestation and habitat renewal platform that incentivizes a generation in peril to restore balance to local environments through token mechanics and the blockchain. Nearly 4 billion hectares of forest cover the Earth's surface, roughly 30% of its total land area. Though extensive, the world's forests have shrunk by almost 50% since agriculture began 11,000 years ago. 75% of this deforestation occurred in the last two centuries as land was cleared to make way for farms and to meet demand for wood. Superforest's long term goal is to double forest cover on Earth to 60% to combat climate change and the extinction of life on Earth.

Mettachain.

Mettachain is a payment network for disaster relief, refugees, NGOs and state backed institutions. Disintermediation makes donations more efficient and effective, while total transparency and auditing functions removes corruption and leakage from transaction flow. All parties can thus effectively pass resources and police each other for good behavior. This enables direct financial aid, pooled fundraising, AI fundraising, and 10x more efficient resource allocation.

Pollution Ledger.

What if the damage the world's most polluting companies cause to the environment, from CO2 in the atmosphere, to plastic pollution in the oceans, could be quantified, tokenized. What if you could charge these companies with the responsibility of clearing up their mess? Pollution Ledger quantifies the environmental externalities to existing  business models, keeps a record of the damage, and issues tokens as debt against the planet.
